Hartela is one of the largest construction companies in Finland. The company has been building apartments and commercial premises, and developing real estate and residential areas since 1942. The Challenge

In modern business reality, to stay profitable and ensure a business' further growth, companies must constantly improve their business processes and aim for the highest operations efficiency. IT solutions and software existing today enable businesses to automate most of their operational processes to ensure vital data exchange is near real-time, and eliminate all unnecessary manual, error-prone operations to make those data reliable.

To modernize the existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and ensure the efficiency of financial operations and business communication processes, Hartela partnered with IFS, a worldwide known supplier of business systems and solutions. With this project, the company aimed to manage costs, revenues, and value-added operations in real-time, and streamlining financial processes with the latest technology.

The new financial management system needed to be fully integrated with all existing business partners, systems, and platforms vital for Hartela's business operations to achieve these goals. Having such integrations in place, the company could avoid all unnecessary manual work and ensure having all the important data available in the correct format around the Hartela environment whenever needed.

Due to a shortage of time and the understanding of the challenges associated with implementing such a massive project in-house, the company has outsourced all integration tasks to Youredi.

The Solution

Daily, Hartela works with over seventeen suppliers and partners. Each of those has its own system designed to work with certain data formats and protocols used for data transfer. Among those data standards are XML, CSV, JSON, txt/SEQ and protocols such as HTTPS, FTP/ SFTP and direct file writes/reads.

As a result, the project's scope was to establish integrations of all existing partners with Hartela's new system and provide the company with an infrastructure, enabling the fast onboarding of new parties and rapid adjustments of existing connections.
